Friday Five

Photo from the amazing: treasuresandtravelsblog

Here are a few things I have enjoyed this week...

1) Coffee - I just can't get enough. And now that I can't afford a yummy bought one everyday, I have been using the office French Press to get the perfect morning cuppa.

2) The Singapore anti-gambling campaign gone wrong.

3) This amazing picnic menu generator! Will remember this when the months get warmer #SouthernHemisphereProblems

4) I have made two loaves of this SUPER EASY Paleo Banana Bread. It is definitely saving me money, I was a routine banana bread customer at the cafe under my office.

5) Alex and Alexa hanging out in NY recently ... The dreamiest of dream couples. Please be reuniting! For the good of Love.

A Naughty Dessert

So yes,

I am on the quitting sugar movement. But sometimes you just have to give in to lifes little luxuries. Instead of stuffing our face with chocolate or a processed dessert, Tony and I made a healthy crumble and custard.

I made the rhubarb and apple crumble. Substituting the sugar in the crumble for a little bit of 100% natural maple syrup. Not the best alternative, but natural at least.

Tony made a DELICIOUS custard with just a table spoon of the naughty white stuff. I have never liked custard that much, but this less-sweet version was delicious! Might try with maple next time and see how that works out. You like his apron? Brings out his feminine side...

mmmm mmmm, delicious, and enough left over to last us the week!

Excuse the unedited iPhone photo - just no time for nice photo's when it tastes this good!

Life Lately

I have been a naughty little blogger and not posting lately.
No particular reason... I haven't been doing anything very exciting to post about I guess.

So here is an update on what I have been doing for those who care (hi mum!).

1. Working! I am loving my new job. Just as well because I have been spending most my life here...

2. Trying to quit sugar. Its hard! Because there are so many naughty temptations around and myself control is about as strong as candyfloss. Still loving the I Quit Sugar program though! Also, this site taught me about an amazing food blog Petite Kitchen, The author is from New Zealand too, extra love for this blog.

3. Relaxing. I have been trying to implement a number of 'techniques' to de-stress. I'm not a stressed person, as in I never ever 'feel' stressed. But my body often gives me little signs that I am stressed... So I have to take the preventative approach... I have been trying meditation and you know the normal things like exercise and winding down before bed, those sorts of things.
I use the app called 'headspace' it is really good! And it's not too spiritual, which is generally what puts me off the whole meditation thing. It has a ten minutes for ten days program. Do it!

4. Watching the Football World Cup. I hate to brag but, I picked Germany right from the start. I mean I know most of the world thought they would win too... but for someone with minimal football knowledge... I think I did good.

5. Exploring home. Tony and I are on a saving plan, so we have been trying to fill our weekends with freebie activities. Mostly going for bush/coastal walks. It's fun, good for us, and FREEEEEEEE
I'll post our most recent one soonish.

6. Reading blogs. I can't get enough of Joanna Goddard. Her 'my beauty uniform' posts are great!
